Maldives Police planning to release fake video clip to sell their story
18 April 2007
Male' - 15:35 - An inside source have told DO that the Police is planning on releasing a fake video footage showing Salah leaving the detention compound 'Atholhuvehi' in Male'. "What they are planning to do is, get someone to wear the clothes that they had taken from Salah's dead body on Sunday morning, and record a reconstructed clip using their surveillance cameras. The clip however will not show his face and this might confuse the public," said the informant.
The informant also said that roads leading to Atholhuvehi compound was blocked on early hours of Sunday morning from 00:00 t0 05:00am, which also raises suspicion over the whole case. He also said that the police washed up the places where he was to hide evidence. The family has spoken to people who saw on 13th evening and 14th afternoon, and statements have been taken from them. These accounts totally disprove the claim by the police that Salah was released from custody on 13th evening.
Family also confirmed that they also have this information plus that the police have not retuned his clothes despite their requests. In addition, DO has credible information that the 'slip on confiscating property', which is given to detainees on registering their detention, which will be taken back when detainees is released, was in fact found his his cell by inmates. The slip is now with the Maldives Human Rights Commission, confirmed our source. All this is pretty disturbing evidence that the police had murdered Salah and is trying hard to hide any evidence.
